Year 7 RE Newman

Students in  7 RE Newman have been looking at different ways of praying. One of these forms of prayer was Lectio Divina or “Divine Reading”, a way of praying with Scripture. On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, students sat outside in the fresh air and quietly read Psalm 139.

They then worked through the following steps involved in Lectio Divina:

Lectio– reading the passage through twice silently and pondering it’s meaning

Meditatio– reading the passage a third time and noting any words that were meaningful to them

Oratio– talking to God about what each person is being called to do in response to God’s Word in Scripture

Contemplatio: Simply resting and being in God’s presence.

All girls are to be commended on the mature and heartfelt manner in which they entered into the exercise.
