A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Bethany,
This Sunday we celebrate Migrant and Refugee Sunday, a day to reflect on the world’s stance on migrants and refugees and a day to recognise the great contributions that migrants and refugees have made to Australia. It is timely to reflect on this given the need for some sectors of skilled workers where we are short, to be allowed into our country. Below is an excerpt from Pope Francis.
Dear brothers and sisters, and, in a special way, young people! If we want to cooperate with our
heavenly Father in building the future, let us do so together with our brothers and sisters who are
migrants and refugees. Let us build the future today! For the future begins today and it begins with
each of us. We cannot leave to future generations the burden of responsibility for decisions that
need to be made now, so that God’s plan for the world may be realised and his Kingdom of justice,
fraternity, and peace may come.
Lord, make us bearers of hope,
so that where there is darkness,
your light may shine,
and where there is discouragement,
confidence in the future may be reborn.
Lord, make us instruments of your justice,
so that where there is exclusion, fraternity may flourish,
and where there is greed, a spirit of sharing may grow.
Lord, make us builders of your Kingdom,
together with migrants and refugees
and with all who dwell on the peripheries.
Lord, let us learn how beautiful it is
to live together as brothers and sisters. Amen.

Congratulations to our Graduating Class of 2022 – The Year 12 Magnolias. On Tuesday we had a fabulous day consisting of the Graduation Assembly in the morning and then in the evening, the Graduation Mass and Dinner. Special thanks to our Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools Mr Tony Farley for attending our graduation assembly and also to our Bexley RSL friends, Hugh, Anne and Clem as well as Father Janusz for being part of this milestone day. I hope that you enjoy the photos in this newsletter which represent the fabulous day that the girls had.
We are so proud to have watched the Year 12 Magnolia’s grow into fine young women who have a passion for justice and for standing up for the vulnerable in society. The Graduating Class of 2022 have every reason to believe that they will have successful and fulfilling lives beyond the gates of Bethany. We wish every girl well for her HSC Exams in October.
Thanks for the memories Year 12.
