A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Bethany,

Amidst 24 hour streaming of news,  famiNe, natural disasters and health concerns, it is easy to concentrate on what is wrong in our world. Through prayer and reflection, it is important to focus on what we should be thankful for and to show this to others.

Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life. You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined. You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me. You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions.

May these words guide us and remind us to show gratitude in our everyday dealings.

Congratulations to Year 12 who only have one more day until their HSC Trials end. Thank you Year 12 for the way that you entered into these exams, at times of heightened stress and anxiety. We wish those students well who have been sick and look forward to you being proud of what you have achieved and learned across this examination period.

Year 11 have had 3 days to reflect on their relationships with each other, their family, God and other relationships at their Senior Retreat. I visited 2 of the retreat venues on Wednesday and the girls were appreciative of this time away and of the scenic surroundings that they were part of. Part of being in Year 11, means concentrating on “Service”. Last week, the process for electing student leaders for 2023 began. A strong voice of student leadership is a quality of a harmonious, high spirited school. I wish Year 11 well as they further develop their decision making in electing the new leaders for 2023 across the next few weeks.

HSC Supervisors Needed

Our Presiding Officer for the HSC – Karen Ryce is in need of some supervisors to help out with the HSC on the following dates – October 12, 13, 20, 27. To be eligible for this you must have a current Working With Children Check, be available on one or some of these dates and not have a family member currently studying Year 12 at any school. These are paid positions by NESA. Please email karen.ryce@syd.catholic.edu.au if you are interested in supervising at our College.

All parents have been invited to attend a sleep connection talk on August 23 at 6pm. I highly recommend parents attending this as a way to learn more about sleep patterns for teenagers but also for yourself and the impacts of positive and poor sleep patterns on our day to day progress.

Have all dads responded for our Father’s Day Mass on Thursday August 1 at 7.30am? We would love to see you there with your daughter.
