ANZAC Ceremony

On Tuesday, 5 April 2016, students Niamh Webster of Year 12 and Isabella Czarnecki and Jamie Howe of Year 10 attended the RSL and Schools Remember ANZAC Ceremony accompanied by Mrs Smit. We were invited to represent our school in the remembrance and commemoration of WWI troops amongst other school students and members of RSL communities. The ceremony was run primarily by school students, showing that ANZAC spirit and remembrance remains strong amongst our generation. We also participated in wreath laying on the steps of the ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park and dropping a star into the Well of Contemplation in the memorial’s Hall of Memory. The day was overall an extremely rewarding and enjoyable experience, providing an excellent opportunity for us to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country, celebrate ANZAC spirit, and explore the importance of commemoration in today’s society.
