Careers / VET Update

What a beauty!

My name is Dianna Festa and I am currently completing a Certificate III in Makeup at Southern Cross Catholic Vocational College as part of my HSC studies.

In my course, we study a wide variety of topics that cover all things beauty, makeup and brows. This includes; facials, brow shaping/tinting, eyelash tinting, special effects/bridal/event makeup. We also develop skills that will help us in the workplace such as customer service and small business management.

Each unit within the course is valuable and gives you an insight on specific skills you will need to enter the workforce one day in the beauty industry. You can even work in this industry part-time while studying at university.

The class was treated to an industry specialist guest speaker who taught our class eyebrow henna/feathering techniques. This was a great experience which equipped us with another skill to be able to work in either makeup artistry or beauty therapy.

My teacher also gave us the opportunity to gain work experience in notable makeup colleges as part of our work experience component of the course.

If you are interested in beauty therapy and/or the makeup industry, this EVET course is definitely for you.

Not only will you receive a Certificate III in Makeup at the end of the HSC, but you will also gain amazing skills that you will take into the workforce with you for any career path you choose to do.

I have shared some of my work to date.
