Thinking of studying Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney

In addition to the ATAR, there is the following additional criteria as outlined on the UAC website for Yr 12 students:

Additional selection criteria: Year 12 applicants will be considered for selection based on their ATAR (or eqv), their result in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) Multiple Choice and their statement of commitment to Veterinary Science.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT): The final date for sitting Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) for entry to B Veterinary Biology/Doctor Veterinary Medicine in 2015 is Saturday 29 November 2014.

Commitment to Veterinary Science form: Information on the statement and the relevant form can be obtained from the Faculty website at http://sydney.edu.au/vetscience/bvetbiol-dvm/entry.shtml. Final date for returning the statement directly to the Faculty is Friday 28 November 2014.

STAT the Special Tertiary Admissions Test

Do you need to sit the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)?

The Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is designed to assess a range of competencies considered important for success in tertiary study. STAT is used by many institutions as part of their admissions procedure for some courses and certain categories of applicants. While STAT is not generally used for Year 12 students, the one specific course where Year 12 students must sit STAT is Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney. (Students no longer need to sit STAT for Pharmacy at University of Sydney.)

STAT candidates must register through UAC.

STAT is used by many tertiary institutions in Australia as part of their admissions procedure for certain applicants. Read What is STAT? (http://www.uac.edu.au/stat/what-is-stat.shtml) for more information.

STAT sittings are usually held in May, and from September to January each year.

STAT information and test dates for the May 2015 testing period will be available from early April 2015.  Information is also available on the ACER website which also includes STAT Practice Tests  http://stat.acer.edu.au/
