CGSSSA Dance Competition

On Wednesday 13 September 2017, Team Dance Bethany travelled to Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College in North Sydney to compete in the Catholic Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association (CGSSSA) Dance competition.

Walking into the competition with our Team Bethany Dance jackets and game faces on, we were a force to be reckoned with. Placing 2nd overall against 15 other competitive catholic schools. The standard of competition was extremely high; but that didn’t throw us off our game. Against schools with professional dance choreographers, our student choreographed pieces beamed on stage showing true pride and enthusiasm contributing to the overall score and effort of the day. The constant lunch, recess and sport time rehearsals have certainly paid off as you could clearly see the professionalism displayed by Bethany on and off stage, the team being good sports to all schools representing Bethany exquisitely!

A massive thank you to Mrs Bennie as none of this would be possible without you. Your dedication to the team

is outstanding, giving up your recess and lunches to help us come home with a win. We are all so grateful to

have you around, mentoring us and pushing us to be our best. You’re truly amazing!

Thank you to Mrs Kekatos and Miss Soles who showed their support on the day of the competition, it was much appreciated.

Congratulations to our Bethany Dancers and our talented 2017 student choreographic team:

1st Open Jazz ( Choreographer : Alexis Maalouf, Year 10 )

1st Tap ( Choreographers: Ameliah Crowe & Abigail Bryant, Year 12 )

3rd Folk – Aboriginal Dance ( Choreographer:  Madelyn Wise Year 11 )

4th Musical – Annie : Year 11 Dance Class

We also can’t let the Hip Hop (Choreographers: Roselyn Pasia, Year 11 & Chloe-Brooke Plazanin, Year 12) and modern/contemporary

(Year 12 HSC Dance class) troupes go unnoticed as they both presented a flawless performance.

Great job girls.

Louise Robinson, Year 10
