Cure Found for Monolingualism* – IT’S POLYGLOTS!

* Monolingualism – the condition of being able to speak only a single language.

The Polyglots gathered in big numbers recently for the first meeting of 2019. There were several familiar faces but also many new students from Years 7 – 12 who joined in to share their knowledge about different languages and cultures.

Firstly, the group introduced themselves and gave us all a greeting in the language of their background (or any language that they were familiar with!). After the niceties were completed, the groups were engaged in various quizzes and challenges that brought out everybody’s competitive nature – all in good fun, of course!

The teachers of the Language faculty would like to thank all the students who came along and participated in the event and look forward to seeing everyone back for our Eurovision-themed Polyglot meeting early next term.

A dopo! / Sayonara!

Year 9 Japanese

Students in Year 9 Japanese enjoyed a sushi day recently, where they were able to learn the about the different types of sushi and learn the art of using chopsticks.
It’s always a great lesson when you can work and eat sushi at the same time!
