Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

On Wednesday the 12 August, four Year 11 students accompanied by Mr Martin completed the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist course at St Patrick’s College in Sutherland.   For the other three girls and myself we all thought it was a perfect opportunity to heighten our faith, in a fun and educational way. We started off the day with a basic session of the history of the Church and the Eucharist and reflected on what it means to be a Eucharistic minister as well as the qualities that one should possess. The second session was more hands-on, where we got to play a match up game with different parts of the mass on different slips of paper and we had to test our knowledge and find person with the corresponding answer. This activity was especially fun because since they were other schools there, we got to talk with people who were there for the same reason and make friends. The last session was a more practical activity, were we all got up and practised how to minister the Eucharist, both the bread and the wine. This was the most educational part as it was what most of us were unfamiliar with. Myself and the other girls can all agree that were are proud to have participated in what is such a fundamental part of our faith and would strongly suggest anyone who is considering to do it!
