From the Assistant Principal

This will be our last newsletter for Term 2. We’ve had a fantastic term, and I know that when the holidays eventually arrive, staff and students will be ready for a rest. The chance for staff and students to have some downtime is important, and I hope all take advantage of this upcoming opportunity.

The last two weeks were not quiet; there were many events and activities that ensured the school was busy and vibrant right until the end of term.

Last Wednesday, we held a College assembly, which proved a wonderful opportunity to celebrate some of the fabulous participation and achievements of our students and the staff who guide them. Students were recognised for their sporting, debating and academic achievements, the latter for their success in the Geography competition. The assembly concluded with students being commended for their commitment to College life through attaining a College Gold Award. It was a celebration of the diverse range of gifts and talents our students have and a great way to conclude the term.

We also welcomed many parents of our Year 8 and 9 students to the College for a study skills evening, facilitated by Dr Prue Salter. The session was informative, interactive and key information was delivered in a relaxed and informal way. Students left the seminar with the tools to enable them to become more powerful learners so they can better manage the academic demands of school and parents with a stronger understanding of how they can support their children in their academic pursuits. If you were unable to attend the evening, Mr Kipriotis has provided links and passwords to useful resources in his report.

Our dancers had the opportunity to share their talents with their parents last Wednesday in their Dance Showcase Evening. From all accounts it was wonderful to see the students perform and to be able to watch this event as a community.

As you are aware, the last two days of term have been busy with Parent/Teacher interviews. I wanted to take the time to thank our teachers for their work in preparation for these interviews and to also thank you for taking the time to engage in feedback about your child’s progress at school.

Upcoming Events

Finally, just a reminder about a few events coming up next week. On Tuesday June 15 we have the Year 8 and 9 Study Skills evening and on Wednesday June 16 we have our Dance Showcase. The Dance Showcase is a ticketed event for the families of our Dance students. If you would like to attend, please ensure that you have completed the google form that was sent to you through Compass.
