From the Assistant Principal

A lot has happened in Term 3. We’ve learned a lot, had  excursions, retreat days, guest speakers, exam blocks and finalised electives for Years 8 and 10. I’ve attended my first Bethany Art and Design Showcase and watched the most amazing dancers, actors and musicians perform their HSC pieces for their parents and teachers.

What a wonderful term it was, finishing with a beautiful farewell to our Year 12 students. They’ve been excellent role models to our students and have led the College with great heart. I wish them all the best in their exams and in the future.

Tell Them From Me

As you know, we surveyed our students in Term 2 about how things are going for them across a range of areas, particularly social and emotional and learning outcomes.

Bethany students feel:

  • They have someone they can trust here at school and have positive relationships with each other.
  • They have advocates for them outside of school.
  • They have a strong sense of our Catholic faith and values.
  • They are intellectually engaged in their learning and lessons are relevant to their world.
  • They are motivated.

There are areas for us to focus on as a school.  It was interesting to see that a number of students lacked confidence in their skills, even though they feel they put effort into their work. A number of students identified as feeling anxious about school and there is a lack of participation in extracurricular activities. We will look to ways of improving in these areas in 2023.

Again, thank you to our students for completing this survey. Their voice is an important part of school improvement.

Term 4

Just a reminder about Term 4. When students return to school on Monday October 10, they will be in their summer uniform. Please take time over the holidays to make sure uniforms still fit and are an appropriate length.

School of Rock – Reminder

As you know, Sydney Catholic Schools are presenting School of Rock, The Musical at Qudos Arena. We have a number of students from the College involved in a range of ways with the production. It sounds like it is shaping up to be a wonderful show!

On Tuesday October 11, 2022 Year 8 will have the opportunity to watch a matinee performance of the show. Students will leave the College by bus at 9am and return for dismissal at 3pm. If you’re a Year 8 parent or carer, further information can be found in the Compass event that was sent to you a few weeks ago. Please give your consent for your daughter to attend this event.
