ITALIAN, FRENCH AND JAPANESE @ BETHANY? – YES YOU KAN-JI!

Year 8 classes have had “taster lessons” in both Japanese and French in their LOTE classes these past weeks. The students were involved in language games and cultural activities as a brief introduction to these new language choices starting in 2016. Year 8 students were happy to pass on their impressions of the experience:

I enjoyed learning snippets of the languages and then being able to come home and tell my family.

I really enjoyed the different languages and found that both the teachers and the content were both engaging and interesting.

I liked the interactive parts of the lessons, for the Japanese I really liked learning how to write the symbols, and for the French I liked the games we played to help us learn the language.

As of next year, Year 9 students may elect to continue their study of Italian or start a Japanese learning experience. Year 11 students will be offered French Beginners as a 2 Unit HSC course as well as the long-established Italian Beginners and Continuers courses.

As is the tradition here at Bethany College, students may also elect to study Languages either through the Open High School or the Saturday School of Community Languages. Any enquiries about these courses should be addressed to Mr. Gianni.

Arrivederci! Au revoir! Sayonara!
