Legacy Junior Public Speaking Competition

On 9 September, I was so lucky to see Sophia McDonnell compete in the State Semi-finals of the Junior Legacy Public Speaking competition at Parliament House, Sydney. This involved a prepared speech and an impromptu speech. In her prepared speech, Sophia talked about the issue of “Chequebook Journalism”. Following their prepared speech, competitors had 5 minutes to prepare a speech on the topic, ‘The end of the line’. Sophia did her absolute best and had the encouragement and support from both her peers and teachers. We felt very honoured to represent Bethany College at this event. It was a very challenging competition as she was versing others up to the age of 15. Everyone did extremely well. I was so grateful that I was able to join Sophia to see her compete. Her efforts paid off as Sophia made it through to the NSW GRAND FINAL,due to be held at the Art Gallery of NSW in October. We wish the the best of luck in the coming weeks.
