Parliament House Visit

On Thursday 13 May, the four Year 12 captains were privileged to represent the College at NSW Parliament House, Sydney. Hosted by the Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, we gained a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the NSW Government. Along with other school leaders from the St George region, we had the unique opportunity to meet the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian and NSW Education Minister, Sarah Mitchell. They shared their own journey in politics and inspired us, as young leaders, to make change in our own local communities.

We were given the opportunity to observe ‘question time’ in the Legislative Assembly as they discussed issues in regional NSW, such as transportation, healthcare and education. This session was both informative and entertaining, with even the Premier referring to ‘question time’ as “cringe”.

As a whole, this opportunity was a great experience and inspired us in our active leadership roles.
