Tuesday 10 February, students of Bethany took part in the College’s annual Swimming Carnival. The day is an important one. It assists in the selection of students to represent the College at the Sydney Catholic College’s (SCC) Swimming Carnival; promotes the value and benefits of physical activity in a fun and fair competition; and builds school and house spirit amongst the students and staff of the College.

There were many wonderful individual performances throughout the day. In particular, Bridget Cole (year 10) was awarded the School Swimming Champion for 2015.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the Carnival to support their daughters, the staff for a job well done, Jade Hennessey and the wonderful sports captains – Jaimie-Lee Rios (Melba); Madison Dias (Franklin); Julia Colubriale (Kellerman) and Samantha Saliba (Oodgeroo) for their enthusiasm on the day and finally to those students who gave it their best.

For the first time, Bethany College entered two teams, a junior and senior team in the CGSSSA Softball Championships held 16 February, at Manly. Both teams improved as day wore on and with each game they played. The senior team won the Plate Division and the junior team finished 5th overall in their division. All the girls played with enthusiasm, good sportsmanship and are to be congratulated on their behaviour throughout the day.

CGSSSA Cricket was held at Queens Park, Waverley on the 23 February. The team participated with great enthusiasm however they just missed out on the 3rd Vs 4th final. Finally, placing 5th overall, beating Monte St Angelo in the 5V6 final. Thank you to Miss Cox for taking the girls.

Morning Fitness Club began this week .

30 students have joined for the term 1. Some new and old faces. All very eager to participate.

Congratulations Lara Morris!!

Lara recently represented Australia in ice skating. She competed in the 15 years Synchronized Ice Skating Team, travelling to Rouen in France and Salzburg in Austria. Her team placed 12th at the French Cup and 15th at the prestigious Mozart Cup.
