R U OK? Day

Thursday 10th September 2020, Australians acknowledged the importance of checking in on the mental health of others through national ‘R U OK?’ Day. Although important every year, 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected.

‘R U OK?’ day spreads awareness about the importance of not only asking others if they are okay, but listening to what they have to say, encouraging them to take action and continually checking in with them.

The message for 2020 is ‘There’s more to say after R U ok?’. To celebrate this year’s theme, the College ran a competition to find the best and most creative conversation starters. It was great to see the enthusiasm of the students through the many entries received.  The winners of the R U OK? Day conversation starters were:

1st place Marianne Sarmiento (Year 9)

2nd place: Margaret Sarmiento (Year 9)

3rd place: Elizabeth Mabbutt (Year 11)

Remember: A conversation could change a life
