Social Justice Report

In Term 1 of 2020, Bethany College launched the St Vincent De Paul’s sandwiching making program. Students kindly volunteered up their lunchtime or an hour after school in order to prepare a variety of sandwiches which were distributed to the homeless by St Vincent De Paul. This initiative was extremely successful due to both the student and teachers who volunteered their time to show support for the vulnerable in our community. A special thank you to all the staff that volunteered their time to help make the sandwiches and deliver them to Lewisham.

On Shrove Tuesday, the Bethany college staff and year 12 students volunteered their morning to make and sell pancakes. We raised an amazing amount of $360.70 which contributed to our Lenten appeal. A special thank you to all the staff and Year 12 students who generously gave up their time.

Over the course of last term, Bethany College participated in Caritas’ Project Compassion. I would like to commend the students on their generosity during this period. Despite having to stop the project early, we raised a stellar amount of $2962.55.

Year 7 = $367.85

Year 8 = $473.55

Year 9 = $193.40

Year 10 = $389.15

Year 11 = $304.80

Year 12 = $873.10

This term, Bethany College will be launching our Winter Appeal. Beginning on the 1st of June until the 26th of June, we will be asking the students to bring in donations of food, hygiene products and cleaning products. There will be a collection point set up outside Student Services for students to drop off their items.

We understand that this is a difficult time and any donations that you can provide will be very much appreciated.
