VET Excellence Awards 2017

Every year to acknowledge the achievements of Year 12 VET students, the Southern Sydney Business Education Network (SSBEN) hosts a VET Excellence Awards Breakfast at the St George Motor Boat Club. During this breakfast, SSBEN recognises and acknowledges the outstanding commitments of students participating in structured Workplace learning. The Workplace Learning Program provides opportunities for students who study a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course to practice the skills learnt at school or TAFE as part of their Higher School Certificate.

The VET Excellence Award is granted to students across participating schools who have demonstrated great dedication in achieving practical competencies, as well as theory requirements in their VET subjects. To be eligible for the award the student nominated must have; consistently worked at high levels in all class activities, completed all assessment tasks to a high standard, display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for their VET subject and have received positive feedback from their host employers whilst on work placement.

This year this award was awarded to Natalie Najem from Year 12 Hospitality. Natalie has shown great interest and enthusiasm for Hospitality and has been very generous with her time by participating in all of our service periods and VET showcases.  Natalie has also completed 70 hours of work placement at Sealevel Restaurant, Cronulla and at John Paul Village at Heathcote.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Natalie on her outstanding achievement in Hospitality .
