What’s Been Happening in Religious Education

Last week, our Year 11 students attended Retreat at Kiah Ridge, Benedict XVI Centre and Winbourne.  It was a wonderful experience for all girls where they had an opportunity to focus on their value which is Service.  As Year 11 will soon be choosing their school leaders for 2019, this was an opportune time for them to reflect on the gifts that God has given them and how they can use these in service to their community here at Bethany.  As Jesus was a servant leader, so too were the Year 11 students guided to understand that this model is one where our community can be enriched and where they can make a huge difference. This was a new experience for the girls and one that they were a little apprehensive about to begin with, but their willingness to participate and join in every activity is a real testament to the quality of our Year 11 students.  I am sure that they have now formed new friendships, realised new things about each other and more importantly, about themselves and their relationship with God.

I would like to thank all the teachers who attended Retreat, Jamie Lee Wood, Anne Sukkar, Elaine Miers, Kirstly Soles, Damien Bernardo, Rachael Bakhos, Laura Fing, Kahlie Taouk, Rob Gough, Kathy Vale, Connie Pikis, Michelle Barrass, David Martin, Priscilla Richani and Rochelle Bailey.  Without their support and willingness to give up their time, this Retreat experience would not have been possible. It was a pleasure to work with these teachers and I am very grateful for their input into making this Retreat one that Year 11 will remember for a very long time.
