What’s Happening in Religious Education
Religious Attitudes and Practices Survey
In 2014 Sydney Catholic Schools committed to undertake a survey of religious attitudes and practices. This is survey is conducted bi-annually as a means of generating longitudinal data. All students in Year 7, 9 and 11 will be completing the survey in class over the next two weeks.
Social Justice Initiative – Christmas Appeal
Over the next few weeks, we will be launching our final social justice initiative for 2020. As was the case over the past two years, we will be partnering with CatholicCare and will be supporting their Gift of Goodness initiative. This initiative invites our students to give a monetary donation which will be used by CatholicCare to purchase fresh food hampers for some of the most vulnerable families within our community at Christmas. Harris Farm generously supports this appeal by providing fresh food to make the hampers. Students will be issued with an envelope from CatholicCare and these simply need to be returned to school with the donation. Please keep an eye out for more information about this initiative together with the envelopes in the coming week.
Prayer for HSC Students
As our students commence their HSC exams, I would like to share this prayer with you and ask that you keep all of our Year 12 cohort in your prayers:
Let us especially pray for our young people as they begin the HSC.
God, we ask that they especially feel your closeness during the HSC exam period.
Give them calm hearts and quiet confidence in the knowledge that you hold them in the palm of your hand.
Bless them with a keen understanding and retentive memory.
Give them the ability to grasp things correctly, be exact in their explanations and an ability to express themselves clearly.
Point out the beginning, direct their progress and help in them in the completion of each of their responses.
Holy Spirit, send them your gifts of wisdom and knowledge.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
