Regional Catholic Schools Debating Competition

On Wednesday 22 June, part of the Year 10 debating team travelled to Mount Saint Joseph’s Milperra to partake in the grand-finals of the Regional Catholic Schools Debating Competition. We competed against Aquinas College Menai with the topic, “The date of Australia Day should be changed”. The Bethany team debated the negative side, with Brooke being our first speaker, Louisa second, Eve third, and Justina fourth. Both teams had 45 minutes to prepare three 6-minute speeches. It was an extremely challenging debate, and proved to test both our analytical and communicative skills. We are pleased to announce that we took home the silver medal! We would like to sincerely thank Ms Georgiou and Mr Martin for guiding us throughout the entire competition. We would also like to thank all our teachers at Bethany, as all the content they had taught us proved to be very useful during the debates. Finally, we would like to thank our family and friends for their ongoing support. This competition has been a highly rewarding experience and we look forward to participating next year!
