Year 7 Concert for the Elderly

On Friday, 14th December, Year 7 hosted a Christmas concert for special guests from local nursing homes. They have been busily preparing for this concert all term through their work with their CLE teachers and have been given time in our pastoral periods to put the finishing touches on their performances. Our guests were blown away by the professionalism of the acts which ranged from dance items and singing to a Christmas comedy skit, as well as the skill of our MCs, Tayla Smith, Mali Boyd and Katerina Papadopoulos.

The girls were so generous with their time and their gifts on the day with the guests and their carers commenting on how polite and caring they found the girls. They performed for our guests, served them tea and coffee, cake and sandwiches but most importantly, they sat down and had beautiful conversations with them.

We were lucky enough to have a guest from the nursing home next door, BUPA, spontaneously perform with his guitar as our opening act. He was a hit with the girls with a group of students even running to the library to print off a group photo for him to keep as a memento of the day. When they couldn’t find him, they asked to be accompanied by Mr Martin to the nursing home to present it to him there where they were met with a very welcome reception!

The day would not have been the success that it was without the help of the amazing Y7 homeroom team; Ms Bakhos, Mr Roberts, Ms Johnson, Ms Soles, Mrs Miers, Mr Gough, Ms Carrabs, Mr Bernardo, Mrs Colreavy, Mr Martin, Mr Slaven. These teachers supported the girls in the lead-up to the day and each oversaw a team of them during the concert. Their help and support was above and beyond and the girls are very lucky to have them. A huge thank you also to the teachers and members of the executive who came to watch them perform.

We felt so much pride on this day and we are astounded by the compassionate nature of our girls who have actively lived out the College Motto; to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with their God.
