Year 7 Reflection Day

On 12 October 2015, Year 7 students got to experience their first Bethany College Reflection Day. We learnt many things and participated in many activities. We began the day with a movie called “You are Special” where the message was that God created each and every one of us with gifts and there is not one person in this world that does not have gifts. God gave us gifts because he loves us and we are special. It was very inspirational as it demonstrated that we should not worry about what others think about us.

One of the activities that I really enjoyed was making my own “Gift Box”. Not like a present, but a box covered with the gifts I have. On the outside of the box I wrote the gifts others know about me and on the inside the gifts I have that others may not know. We learnt that everybody has gifts because we are all God’s children and we are all very special to him. We were also very lucky to meet Sister Nibola. For some Year 7 girls, that was the first time that they had seen, or even been taught by an actual Nun! Sister spoke to us about the Rosary and her vocation. It was extremely exciting for us. Another very special guest, Karen Oxley taught us about the charism of  the Sisters of St Joseph and the connection that they continue to have with Bethany. She was a very inspiring woman and gave us many social justice inititiaves  to attempt throughout the term.
Overall, the year 7 Reflection Day was a lot of fun and we all learnt a lot!
