Year 8 Scientia – Religious Education

Pope John Paul II initiated the practice of identifying young saints and martyrs and encouraging young people to pray through them for their needs. As preparations continue for World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow our Year 8 Scientia students were invited to nominate a suitable Catholic saint and/or martyr prior to AD 1054, whose faith and service to God and the world is an example to young people. They were tasked with creating a website outlining their chosen saint’s case for patronage of World Youth Day, and evaluating them against a selection criteria of their own design.
